Raphael Dominguez Cuernavaca Botones Charro Ring

Raphael Dominguez Cuernavaca Botones Charro Ring

$180.00

There are many origin stories about what Spaniards call botones charros and what the Dutch call the Zeeland knot, but this piece was artfully made by hand in Cuernavaca , Mexico, with the style starting to gain traction in the midcentury. This ring features larger rosettes in the center of the band that are accompanied by smaller rosettes along the width of the band.

It is handmade and hallmarked by the well known and admired artisan Rafael Dominguez, my favorite maker of this style. It is a size 6 and fits snugly yet comfortably despite being over half an inch wide. This is a work of art that took many hours to make and has been lovingly worn and cleaned over the years; it’s offered at an excellent price due to less than ideal aging with some oxidation and patina present which I recommend not altering.

We like to offer pieces in almost original condition and the wear and tear to this piece and it’s gradual lightening over the decades has not diminished its appeal. It would be a great statement ring and is definitely a showstopper of a piece for a Sterling Silver collector who appreciates hand made artistry and history. Check out the Vintage Rings Collection to see other examples of this style.
